My youth group is having a huge fundraiser on November 6th. We are raising money to fund all our trips and retreats, like our Missions Trips and Summer Camp. These trips help us grow in our faith and give us unforgettable experiences while giving us opportunities to give back to our communities. A lot of people know I'm part of the JYM, but not a lot of people know how much it really means to me. The JYM has transformed my life in many ways. It opened a door to religion for me, something I've always refused. It has allowed me to experience things that I would've never had the chance to do otherwise. Each of the trips we take have a very specific impact in my faith and my life as a whole. I've found a significant support system in both Lisa and Kat, as well as all the amazing leaders that volunteer. I can truly say it has changed my life for the better. Please donate if you can, whatever you can. Every little bit helps. Current 12th grader at Middle College.
My youth group has a fundraiser coming up soon and I would really appreciate your help fundraising. This group is really important to me because it gives me a safe place to learn and ask questions about faith and God. This fundraiser is very important because it establishes the basis for all of the scholarships for our trips throughout the year. Without help from scholarships many students, including me, would not be able to go on most trips. For instance, I was able to go on my first mission trip this summer. The experience was extraordinary and I was able to form close bonds with my peers and mentors. Thank you! Current 10th grader at Gunderson.
“The JYM has been and continues to be such a source of love, support, and growth for me. The community fostered by Lisa and Kat is unreal-everybody really cares about you, your life, your petty problems, your personal development, and your relationship with God, and I'm extremely grateful to have been a part of it. For me, most of this growth happened on youth group trips, especially the annual missions trip. Major bonding and huge personal and spiritual development happens on these trips every year, and they would really be impossible without funding and donations from generous community members. The JYM has been such an important part of my teenaged years, and I wish nothing more than to have it impact younger classes the way it impacted me!” Alumni of JYM currently attending UC Berkley
“As an alumna of the JYM, I cannot fully articulate the positive role the JYM family played in my adolescence. It provided me with a community in which I felt comfortable being myself, adult role models who showed me God’s love through their service, and friendships with all kinds of students from all kinds of backgrounds. Thanks to the generosity of many, I was able to attend camps and service trips that taught me about the injustices in this world, deepened my compassion for those affected by such injustices, and stretched my faith. The total outcome for me of everything the JYM does - from trips to bible studies, youth group sundays to laser tag sleepovers - has been a greater understanding of and eventually, a deeper relationship with our loving God.” Alumni of JYM currently attending USC
"During my middle school and highschool years, I was lucky enough to be part of the JYM. As you may know, the JYM holds many events all year long, including girls/guys nights, sleepover events, youth group every sunday, holiday events, community service activites, the snowboarding trip, and of course the mission trip every year. Even though my family couldn't afford to send me to all these trips, I was still fortunate enough to be able to attend all because of fundraising and donations. I am so thankful to the JYM for these oppurtunities because the youth group was truly a safe haven for myself. The JYM showed me what it means to be healthy, safe, and loved, and for that I am forever thankful." Alumni of JYM currently working full time and attending Cabrillo College
